Back to School 2013! Be Prepared!

The air is getting cooler at night, and we found ourselves reaching for a long-sleeved shirt today.  That can only mean one thing; back to school!

Are you ready for back-to-school?  Us either!  It seems school JUST let out for Summer.. and we definitely need to get some more beach days in before the kiddies go back in September.  As much as we'd like Summer to linger, it's time to start preparing!

What's on our list of to-dos?  Aside from the standard school supplies and backpacks, you have to be prepared for head lice.  We know, totally gross.  The idea of it makes your head itch, we totally feel the same way.  But, we've JUST lived through a two-week round of these creepy-crawlers, and feel compelled to share what we learned.

Head lice DO NOT jump.  They crawl.  Kids working at a shared table- like those found in Kindergarten & First Grade will often pass lice unknowingly when bent over their work tables.  Same goes for sitting on the bus; lice can crawl across the seat.

Darlings&Divas-LicePreventionSo, how to combat these little pests?  If you have a daughter, make sure she wears her hair up in a bun as much as possible.  We use a natural lice repellant from Deliceful in our girls' hair daily; it smells like peppermint and is a great preventative.  Once a week, we shampoo with Deliceful shampoo and comb out hair with a fine tooth nit comb.  This is a great way to see if there is anything in your daughter or son's hair (yes- boys can get lice too).  Dip the nit comb in a clear plastic bowl of water placed on a white paper towel; this will allow you to see any lice or nits that come out of the hair.

Don't be unprepared this fall when the dreaded letter comes home that lice has been found in the classroom.  As Ben Franklin said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Deliceful shampoo, conditioner, de-licing kits, and prevention spray can be found year-round in our boutique!
