At Divas on the Road, at-home spa parties are our number one request. Divas of all ages want to relax at home while getting pampered with mini-manis, mini-pedis, and facials. Last year, we blogged tips & tricks for throwing an amazing spa-arty at home. However, one question parents always ask is what to serve at their at-home spa-arty.
First, come up with a color theme, and purchase coordinating paper goods which can easily be found at Party City or at the Dollar Store. We think fun drinking glasses make any event more festive. We're obsessed with mason jars, which make any event more fun, and doubles up as a party favor (tip- use coordinating cupcake liners for tops! Just use a hole puncher to make space for a straw). Champagne flutes are also super fun and sold in coordinating colors. For drinks choices, we love pink lemonade and flavored waters (just mix water and fruit over night to make your own).
Catering a spa-arty can be tricky. When thinking "spa", fruits, vegetables and finger sandwiches come to mind. We like marrying the adult version of spa cuisine with the smaller diva's tastes. There are so many fun food options for girls of all ages. For snacks, portion your Diva's favorite snacks in individual cups: think pretzels, pirate booty, veggie booty, popcorn, etc. Cucumber and carrots look adorable in clear cups with ranch dip in the bottom for easy dipping (and care-free double dipping). Of course, pick up your favorite seasonal fruits, cut into bite-size pieces, and make fruit skewers.
For sandwiches, there are so many fun ideas. Think: cream cheese & jelly, turkey & cheese, mini pitas filled with hummus and vegetables, roast beef, etc. Make sandwiches look extra special by cutting off crusts or cutting them with cookie cutters into flowers, hearts, or stars.
Looking for something sweet? How about chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels? Both are super easy to make and you can even purchase colored candy melt from Michael's to coordinate with your theme. Of course, don't forget to platter cookies and mini-muffins. Easily purchased at your local supermarket, they look super chic on a platter (tip- to make your table scape extra spectacular, vary the height of your platters by using boxes or cake stands hidden under a table cloth).
For a big finale, how about a make-your-own sundae bar? Display ice cream and topping choices and let girls make their own. If you're looking for inspiration, why not visit our Pinterest page dedicated to spa food!
